1910-1945: Japan controls Korea

Aug. 12,1945: Russia invades Korea

Aug.14,1945: World War II ends
Korea was divided at the 38th parallel
(The division was meant to get Japanese
Soldiers out of Korea, by Russia coming
down from the North and the United States
from the South. The Japanese forces were then
suppose to be sent back to Japan. The US did so,
but most captured by Russia were sent to Siberia
for forced labor. It was was not meant to be a
permanent division.)

1948: UN tries to visit North Korea

Dec. 1948: Democratic republic of North Korea was established
The last Russians leave the North

Aug. 1948: United States occupation ends in South Korea

May. 1948:Elections are held in South Korea, Syhgman Rhee is elected

Jan. 12, 1950: Dean Acheson (Secretary of State) speaks at the
National Press Club and accidentally leaves ROK
(South Korea) outOf the sphere of influence

April. 1950: Kim Il Sung visits Stalin (Obtains supplies such as weapons
vehicles and other supples)

May. 1950: Kim Il Sung visits Mao of China (Obtains forces man
power)
